Dr Aphrodite Gogakis qualified with an Mbbch degree in 2002 from the University of Witwatersrand.

On completion of an internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital which included rotations in medicine, surgery and obstetrics and gynaecology, she completed a year of community service in the surgical unit in Klerksdorp hospital.

The following year Dr Gogakis worked in the Trauma Unit at Johannesburg General hospital (Now Charlotte Maxeke Academic)which included casualty and ICU rotations. Gaining experience in paediatric surgery and in the orthopaedic tumour and sepsis unit for half the following year.

Following the completion of a diagnostic radiology specialist degree in 2010 from the University of Witwatersrand, she moved to private practice in 2012. Having specialised interests in oncology imaging, head and neck imaging and prostate MRI she joined Dr Sulman and partners permanently in August 2017.

Dr Gogakis attends numerous congresses dedicated to new imaging techniques for oncology and prostate MRI and general radiology and is a member of the International Cancer Imaging Society and the European Society of Oncology imaging.
